Sian and Joe were so great to work with... really great! I kept staying too long in the pub chatting to them whenever we met to talk flower. One of our meetings to look round venues also clashed with rehearsals for a David Bowie memorial gig at the Union Chapel and so it is up there as one of my most unique consultations... The couple were relaxed in their brief which meant I was able to pick and choose the best from the market in their colours.
I was absolutely thrilled to get these photos back from the lovely Jess Soper. She is such a talent - photographing flowers is difficult and she has nailed it. Do get in touch with her if you are still choosing your photographer - you won't regret it!
Anyway, back to wedding flowers. The Union Chapel is awesome. It has vast high ceilings and lovely ornate detailing and has real wow factor. The amazing thing about this space is that despite the grand size it also feels really intimate when you have just a few guests surrounding the centre stage. So - wedding big or small - take a look around if you are feeling the Islington vibe!
After their wedding ceremony guests walked down Upper Street to The Dead Doll's House. A really cool place and perfect for a couple wanting something different and a bit relaxed. Sian and Joe opted for peach and white flowers in jam jars for the wedding reception. These worked great because there was quite a lot of furniture movement after dinner and jam jars can be quickly transferred to new spots to make the most of your wedding budget. The Doll's House is far from a blank canvas with its unique wall decorations and touches of teal and copper and gold furnishings but these colours worked great.
The team at the Doll's House were lovely - as I left set up they were desperately rushing around trying to make all the horse name places stand up! It was a really friendly group of people working there and so thank you for having me. And Joe and Sian thank you for including me in your day! xx
