Spring Portfolio Workshop

A proper blog post is on the way but I couldn't wait to share some photos from my recent portfolio workshop! A group of such amazing and warm florists gathered in my Kent studio to learn the wedding business and get some truly amazing images for all of their portfolios.

Come and join me for the next one in August! You will create a bouquet, table centrepiece and large installation piece. Importantly ALL of your items will be professionally photographed with a model and then sent to you for you to use as you please. I've been on too many workshops myself where the photographer seemed to be mainly there for the workshop host - I'm determined for my courses to be different.

Huge thanks to Imogen Xiana for the photos and Ellie Gill for makeup. Imogen uses film and knows how to capture flowers like no one else! Ellie is local to me in Tunbridge Wells and she uses only natural products to work her magic! xx

First Jennifer Pinder Workshop of 2017

Pei's table arrangement at the Jennifer Pinder Floristry lesson floral workshop based in Kent

Well this is totally unheard of... Actually writing a blog post on the same day as an event... But it is 2017 and this is the new me! I no longer drink diet coke or let months of receipts pile up or eat chocolate biscuits or fall asleep wearing makeup.

Unfortunately I know myself - this won't last but let's enjoy the momentum while it is here.

Today I welcomed two gorgeous ladies to the studio - Pei (who just loves flowers) and Amber (who has a beautiful shop in Somerset). It was lovely to start off the year flowering and hearing about these two's adventures in the floral world. It was a frosty morning and so after a quick walk around neighbouring Ightham Mote with husb and pup I foraged the best that I could from the garden and then retreated to the warmth of the studio as quickly as possible.

Stand out flowers for today included beautifully scented garden roses, huge pink anenomes and plum ranunculus. The garden surprised me this morning - I thought I would struggle but the eucalyptus is still going strong and I'm spoiled with deep purple and green pittosporum. All 3 of us turned out to be big foliage fans and the work produced was just beautiful as I am sure you will agree! One of the things I loved most about today was how different everyone's work ended up being. Enjoy and Happy New Year xx

One to One with Faith (a faith a faith)

It was such a huge pleasure to welcome Faith of 'Finishing Touches by Faith Gurel' to the studio for a one-to-one. Faith is based in Essex and an absolute superstar florist. Get in touch with her if you are getting married in her neck of the woods and want the best of the best!

We had some lovely stuff to work with and Faith created a beautiful springy urn and a really flower heavy and wild bouquet. In the afternoon we created a larger installation - a hanging chandelier which I somehow wrestled into a tree for Jo to photograph! The workshop was in early March meaning there wasn't a huge amount of British flowers about but I was thrilled to get my hands on some homegrown tulips, narcissi and hellebores. One of the perks of being first through the door at the market and over to Pratley's!

Other than the flowers, it was genuinely just so fab having someone to chat to for a whole day and to get to know Faith properly. We had so much fun exchanging wedding tales, flowery gossip and comparing notes on our businesses. Faith is so warm and generous and gave such great advice about managing a business alongside a family. All of her friends and family are so lucky to have her on their team - as I am sure they are aware! Also, she spoiled Matilda and so is welcome back any time.

All pics by my favourite Jo Ellen, who lives just round the corner! Follow her here. xx

Corporate Christmas Wreath Class in London

We had a wonderful time at the King offices in London holding a Christmas wreath class for around 25 people. A really lovely group who all got stuck in along with mountains of mince pies and cheesy Christmas classics playing in the background. A corporate floristry class is a great way to bond with colleagues and clients in the office and you get to take something beautiful home with you! Thanks for having us King!
